Below is a list of the highlights of our package versus the Administration\u2019s. A LUFA representative will also be speaking at the Labour Day in the Park event on Monday, Sept. 4. The event is being organized by the Sudbury and District Labour Council, which is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year.<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Our Package<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Developed on the basis of the survey and extensive consultation with our members<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Restores collaboration between senior administration and faculty<\/strong><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Facilitates a better work environment, including our work with students<\/strong><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Keeps workload fair and attractive for current and future faculty<\/strong><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Encourages scholarly activities and professional development<\/strong><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Supports our part-time (sessional) and limited-term appointment members, master lecturers and parenting members<\/strong><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Protects wage competitiveness and equity<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>The Administration&#8217;s Package<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Damages the quality of education<br \/>\n<\/strong>By assigning faculty to teach courses of other departments \/ arbitrary and late altering of workloads \/ reduced access to sabbatical leaves<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>\u00a0Diminishes the University\u2019s attractiveness for future faculty<br \/>\n<\/strong>Through unprecedented erosion of core faculty rights and further reduction of salary scale competitiveness<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>\u00a0Punishes faculty<br \/>\n<\/strong>Through punitive workloads and new, unfair disciplinary practices<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>\u00a0Removes rights of members to leaves<br \/>\n<\/strong>By reducing eligibility for parental\/pregnancy leave<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>\u00a0Poisons labour relations<br \/>\n<\/strong>Through top-down, anti-collegial governance measures that make Laurentian a managerial, corporate university<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Further details are in our most recent bulletin: <a href=\"https:\/\/lufappuldev.wpengine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/LUFA-Bulletin-August-2017.pdf\">lufa-bulletin-august-2017<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>(SUDBURY &#8211; 28 August 2017) We are currently in negotiations for a new collective agreement with Laurentian University\u2019s Board of Governors.
