LUFA Votes in Favour of Job Action

(Sudbury – 18 September 2017)

The Laurentian University Faculty Association (LUFA) has received a strike mandate from its members. Ninety-one percent of those who voted cast a ballot supporting job action in the event that a new collective agreement cannot be reached with the University’s Board of Governors.

“We are most grateful for this strong show of support from our members,” says LUFA president Jim Ketchen. “We don’t want to strike, but will if the administration isn’t willing to negotiate a fair collective agreement. We hope that this vote will convince the administration to become serious about reaching a deal.”

LUFA will be in a legal strike position as of 12:01 am, Thursday, Sept. 28, and a strike date will soon be announced. The union’s previous contract expired on June 30.

“For over 35 years, LUFA and the university administration have, through our collective agreements, worked together to offer positive and enriching education to our students,” Ketchen says. “LUFA wants to protect Laurentian’s learning environment from proposed rollbacks.”

How a slot decides a winning combination is set by its line structure, and that structure varies far more than the reels suggest. Some titles fix every line permanently, others let the player switch lines off, and a growing number abandon lines for a count of winning ways.

How Line Count Shapes Your Stake

A ways to win slot counts every left to right symbol path rather than fixed patterns, which is why figures like 243 or 1,024 appear in the description. Anyone comparing structures can PatrickSpins and see how the total bet is calculated in each case. The stake on those games is a flat multiple rather than a per line figure, which makes budgeting simpler than it first appears.

SettingWhy It Matters
Line countMultiplies the per line stake
Adjustable linesLower cost but fewer chances
Ways to winFixed total bet per spin
  • Check whether lines are fixed before setting a stake
  • Compare total spin cost rather than the per line figure

No line configuration improves the long run return, since that figure is fixed by the game rather than by the settings. What the structure does control is the cost per spin and how often small wins appear. Set a total budget, work out the spin cost from it, and treat the numbers on the description as information rather than promise.
